Most dog shampoos on the market are not actually made for dogs. They are simple adaptations of human formulas. Cheap, foamy, and completely unsuited to what a dog's skin needs. At Bob & Scottie, we turned it around: we started with the dog's skin and built the shampoo bar around it.
Why pH 6.5 makes a difference
A dog's skin has a pH between 6.5 and 7.5, which is more neutral than human skin, which is around 5.5. That difference may seem small, but it's not. A shampoo made for humans is too acidic for a dog's skin, even baby shampoo. If you use it anyway, you disrupt the skin's natural protective layer. The result: dryness, itching, irritation, and an increased risk of infections.
Our Grooming Bar Collection is therefore pH-balanced at 6.5. Precisely tailored to what dog skin needs to stay healthy and balanced, wash after wash.
Sulfates and parabens
Sulfates are the cleansing agents that create the thick, creamy lather that many shampoos advertise. Effective against dirt, but equally effective against the natural oils that protect your dog's skin and coat. In dogs with sensitive skin, you often see this immediately: dryness, tight skin, and irritation.
Parabens are added as preservatives, purely to extend shelf life. They offer nothing for your dog's skin, and in reactive skin, they can actually cause problems. Our bars come without parabens, sulfates, silicones, or other fillers that simply don't belong.
Concentrated and zero waste
A shampoo bar is a pure formula, without water as a filler and without a plastic bottle around it. That makes it more concentrated (and therefore more economical to use) than a regular bottle of shampoo. No plastic thrown away after the last wash, no unnecessary transport weight from water. Just a bar that is used up until nothing is left.

Every Bob & Scottie bar is 100% vegan: no animal ingredients, no animal testing. A choice that aligns with how we view care.
